Javier Infante
Javier Infante has an MBA from San Sebastian University, Chile, as well as a bachelor’s degree in aquaculture engineering from Antofagasta University, Chile. He has more than 15 years of experience supporting, organizing and managing seaweed cultivation projects. Throughout much of his early career, Javier worked on ocean-related projects with a specific focus on environmental impact assessments in near-shore and coastal areas. Javier has taken the lead on projects related to seaweed cultivation for the biofuels and phycocolloids industries, as well as community-oriented technology transfer initiatives. In 2015, Javier launched and has since run his own seaweed consultancy firm in Chile to support universities, industry and the government in seaweed cultivation projects. Javier has garnered extensive knowledge of all current technical, economic, social and regulatory issues related to seaweed cultivation. Among a host of other skillsets, he specializes in engineering design, cultivation infrastructure installation, experimental set up and environmental and biomass monitoring.
